Due to relocation of business
premises Heritage Marine Ltd will be disposing of the contents of their prop
warehouse
including the entire collection of 11 model ships, maritime artefacts, props,
sets and costumes used in the making of the
Emmy Award Winning television series "HORNBLOWER".
Also many other items of
wardrobe department equipment, catering equipment and location support equipment
-
all previously used in the TV and Film industry.
There are eleven large 18th
century square rigged sailing ship models ranging from 4 metres to 7 metres
in length.
These models were built for the Hornblower series in Russia, by Russian shipwrights,
under the supervision of Martin
Saville and documented in his book "Hornblower's Ships - their history
and their models".
They were built as replicas of English and French fighting ships of the period
and are authentic in every detail. Two of the
models, one of 7mtrs and one of 5.5mtrs, are exact replicas of the "Grand
Turk", a 120 ft full size 20-gun sailing ship
built in Turkey for the Hornblower series. There are also two 4.5mtr models
of the Baltic Trader "Julia" - also used in the
series, plus three 4mtr frigates, one 5mtr 74-gunner and three 4.5mtr "Fireship"
models.
There is a selection of
Hornblower Memorabilia including complete marked up scripts with continuity
photos, artistes
chairs personalised clothing worn on and off screen, boxes of continuity photographs.
A large quantity of flattage
and other set building items including stern gallery, deck beams, knees, doors,
ship's wheels,
capstans, ship's bell, steps, railings and deck gratings plus large amounts
of rope and rigging sails, spars and maritime items
to make up full size exterior and interior ship's sections.
A selection of full size
GRP cannon and rubber muskets and cutlasses, uniforms and smaller items of set
dressing,
ships lamps deck fittings and smaller items including collectors items such
as Horatio Hornblowers Notebooks and
brass compass, telescope etc all these items are supported by continuity photos
and other supporting provenance
There are various other
marine items such as water proofs, galvanised deck fittings rope wire and instruments
plus
general wardrobe and catering equipment, including a portable dance floor, washing
machine, dryers ironing boards,
wardrobe rails, stereo equipment.

beam, rigged as a barque the rig can be altered to change the appearance of
the vessel.

in Birch and Pine 4.7meters plus bow sprit and 1.15 m beam can be rigged as

104 Third Rate 74 Gunner replica scaled model b constructed in Birch and Pine
including masts and sails, based on
the French 74 "Le Superbe" of 1785 this is a very detailed and exact
model 6.5 meters long plus the bowsprit and
1.5 meters wide. The detailed deck fittings and smaller items such as the replica
fire buckets as the hammock
netting and other detail have been removed and are stored separate to avoid
damage and loss while the ship
has been used for more background work.
Used in the Hornblower series as the "HMS Justinian" as well as various
French and Spanish ships,

SITUATION: The Riverside Builders Merchants Building, Station Road, Maldon,
Essex CM9 4LQ is located near to the Tesco superstore on the Heybridge/northern
side of Maldon town, backing on to the river Crouch.
Best accessed from the A414, on the Heybridge side of the town. From the A414
follow signs for town. Station Road is located on the opposite side of the roundabout
to
Tesco at the bottom of market hill, next to the river crouch.
VIEWING: Viewing may take place on the morning of the sale from 9.00am and
on Tuesday
2nd October from 10.00am until 4.00pm Access to the sale site for viewing will
be denied at all other times.

is deemed to take full
responsibility for the items purchased. Where applicable purchasers are encouraged
to insure their
purchased lots or to confirm that they are covered by an existing policy against
loss or damage.
NO RESPONSIBILITY shall be taken by the Auctioneers for lots that are damaged
or lost before, during or after the sale
SAFETY REGULATIONS: Purchasers must satisfy themselves prior to bidding that
the items offered
comply with all currently applicable Health & Safety, CE Certification or
Road Traffic regulations concerning their use,
alternatively they shall undertake all necessary works required in order to
comply before usage. The Vendors or the
Auctioneer's shall not give or imply any guarantee that the items offered conform
to current legislation. In addition,
where applicable the purchaser shall ensure that they acquire the manufacturer's
instructions concerning the
operation of any equipment and subsequently agree to operate the machinery in
accordance with the manufacturer's
recommendations. No liability will rest with the Auctioneers or The Vendor with
regard to this matter.
CONDITIONS OF SALE: All lots are offered subject to our normal conditions of
sale, and any additional conditions
contained within this catalogue, full copies of which are displayed at the saleground
and in this catalogue.
All items will be "Sold As Seen" with no warranty given or implied
REGISTRATION OF BUYERS: All persons wishing to bid MUST complete a registration
form upon arrival at the
saleground to receive a bidding number. UNREGISTERED PERSONS MAY NOT BE PERMITTED
TO BID.
NB: Persons unknown to the Auctioneers may be required to provide a deposit
"at the fall of the hammer" or upon registration.

"DRIVEN IN" & "RUNNING": Where vehicles or machinery
display these statements, this indicates that the item was moved within
the sale yard and put into place using its own power, or the engine/motor has
been heard running. It does not constitute any warranty
and is information for guidance only! We encourage purchasers to inspect lots
thoroughly prior to purchase.
ALTERATION/AMENDMENT OF LOTS: Some Lots May Be Subject To Alteration or Amendment.
